A renowned not for profit organisation, which provides students with paid internship opportunities in the USA aligned to their studies, has partnered with a college in the UK for the first time in a pilot programme with Forth Valley College.
Following an introductory webinar, which attracted a brilliant 60 plus FVC attendees a few weeks ago, CIEE ( CIEE Internship USA | CIEE ) were blown away with the students’ interest. They then progressed to holding one-to-one online and drop in sessions this week in the Stirling and Falkirk Campuses to provide further information and pre-qualification interviews. This has resulted in 20 students progressing to the next stages of the process.
The internships available last from 3-14 months, cover the whole of the US and employer industries are aligned with what the College offers. It is also now understood that there are at least two American colleges who are interested to visit FVC in summer 2025, as part of a custom programme created by CIEE.
Jamie Allan, FVC’s Global Partnership Manager, who is pictured here (back row centre) with potential student interns and also FVC Colleague Alison Harris Career Ambassador Project Co-ordinator (far right), said: “CIEE offer unparalleled opportunities for students to experience paid work in the USA across a multitude of locations and sectors, and I’m delighted that Claire Kinloch Anderson, Glasgow Centre Director and UK Internship Specialist, is driving this pilot programme with Forth Valley College as the first college in the UK who can send their students across the pond to intern through CIEE.
“The interest from our students has been incredible and we can hopefully create a ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunity that will not only provide them with cultural benefits, but future employment benefits too, as this is great to have on their CV. Furthermore, the opportunity to showcase the expertise and the College’s facilities by welcoming groups of college students from the USA to Scotland, will foster great relationships with partner institutions.”

I look forward to getting to know them as they progress their applications, and I am sure they will all make the very most of these placements to enhance their learning and readiness for work. FVC have been an outstanding partner in this project and I am eagerly anticipating further collaboration and exchange.”
