Hospitality and Professional Cookery students from Forth Valley College visited the luxury Cromlix House Hotel on Monday 19 October.
The group had the opportunity to visit the hotel near Dunblane, for an inspiring and educational industry experience and were not disappointed.
The group was warmly welcomed by Sharon McMullen, Deputy General Manager, who provided a comprehensive tour of the hotel and shared valuable insights into its operations. During the visit, students explored several of the hotel's impressive facilities, including The Glasshouse, which is renowned for its afternoon tea experience, the newly opened Garden Room restaurant, and The Cradle, an exclusive 16-seat fine dining restaurant with Michelin-star aspirations.
Students were also given behind-the-scenes access to the kitchen facilities by James Mearing, Executive Chef at Cromlix. James took time out of his busy schedule to explain the hotel's culinary philosophy, discuss the importance of quality and consistency, and demonstrate how the kitchen team works together to deliver exceptional dining experiences.
The visit also included a tour of one of the hotel's luxurious guest bedrooms, allowing students to see first-hand the exceptional standards of design, comfort, and attention to detail that have helped establish Cromlix as one of Scotland's leading hospitality destinations.
Michal Tomaszewski, Hospitality Lecturer, said: “The visiting group included students from HND Professional Cookery, HND Patisserie, and HND Hospitality Management programmes. Each group gained valuable insights into the hospitality industry, learning about the importance of striving for perfection, maintaining meticulous attention to detail, and creating unique and memorable customer experiences.
“Experiences such as this provide students with an invaluable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world industry practices, helping to prepare them for successful careers in hospitality, culinary arts, and hotel management.
“We would like to thank Sharon, James, and the entire team at Cromlix House Hotel for their hospitality and for taking the time to share their expertise with our students.”
