Open Evening Careers Fair Stirling Campus

Open Evening and Careers Fair events being held at Forth Valley College to promote courses and training available at the College and job opportunities, have already attracted a record number of companies and organisations looking to promote apprenticeships and vacancies.

The events will take place on Tuesday 4 March at the Stirling Campus and Thursday 6 March at the Falkirk Campus and have been arranged to coincide with Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2025.

Both will run from 4pm – 8pm and will give prospective students the chance to find out more about the wide range of course opportunities available, including full-time courses for August 2025 entry, partnership degrees with some of Scotland’s leading universities, Modern Apprenticeships, school partnership provision including Foundation Apprenticeships, evening courses, industry training courses and flexible and online learning programmes.

Job seekers, including those looking to change careers and workers affected by the planned closure of the Petroineos Refinery are also encouraged to come along to have the chance to speak to more than 25 employers who are potentially taking on apprentices and recruiting for jobs.

In addition, college support teams – including FVC’s Petroineos Project Team - will also be available to offer careers advice and answer questions on funding, learning support and applying to college.

Several companies will be hosting information stalls at the Falkirk event to provide information on opportunities available, and these will include: Babcock; SP Energy Networks; Swanton Care & Community; INEOS; ExxonMobil, MacTaggart Scott Ltd; Network Rail; Falkirk Football and Athletic Club; Oil States Industries UK Ltd; Skills Development Scotland; Semco Maritime; Forth Ports Ltd; FoundOcean; RISE-Forth Valley; Trillium; Dales Marine; Subsea7; Malin Group; Peacock Technology Limited; Briggs Equipment; Heriot-Watt University; Jarvie Plant; CVS Falkirk & District; RSE Group; and ECITB.

Skills Development Scotland will also be hosting a stall at the Stirling Campus event.

The events will also serve as a great opportunity for potential students and their families to get a look around the College’s fantastic buildings and meet the teams face to face, who can help them make an informed decision about which course is right for them.

Kenny MacInnes, Principal of Forth Valley College said: “Our open evenings and career fairs will offer a fantastic opportunity for people to come along and find out about the different options available to them – whether they’re interested in one of the many courses we have available at the College including full-time courses, degrees, school partnership courses, or Modern Apprenticeships.  They will also be really useful for current students looking to progress to employment after completing their qualification later in the year, or those looking to develop in their current job or who may even be contemplating a change in career.

“I would also reach out to those people affected by the planned closure of the Petroineos Refinery and say that this would be an opportunity to come along and speak to our advisors, talk to potential employers, and to check out our facilities and find out more about potential future training.

“We’ll also have staff on hand to answer any questions you may have - if you have questions surrounding student finance or the application process for example – and they’re also an excellent opportunity to find out about the qualifications, skills and experience that employers are looking for.”
