NC Creative Industries: Graphic Design and HND Visual Communication students, have joined together to fill walls of an upstairs corridor of the Stirling Campus with their latest work.
The celebration of graphic design work showcases examples from projects completed in Block 1 of their courses, all expressing important features such as typography, colour, layout and design concepts which are all key elements of the graphic design courses.
Lecturer Kirsteen Wright, said: “The students all work on the same projects across their year groups, but always come up with imaginative and varied outcomes making each piece unique. I would encourage everyone to come and see the work on the Stirling Campus first floor corridor!”
The celebration of work also shows designs completed on the recent ‘Turing Scheme’ trip to Belgium in February. A group of 11 first and second year HND Visual Communication students, accompanied by lecturers Kirsteen Wright and Angela McLaren, travelled to Mons, Belgium for two weeks.
Kirsteen, added: “We attended HELHa College for a few days to experience further education from a different perspective. The students took part in a project with Belgian lecturers to complete designs for a new Belgian Beer. Angela and I taught a large group of Belgian students a project to create posters for Scottish confectionary company Tunnock’s using Scottish phrases. Both projects are on show in the Stirling Corridor.”
HND Visual Communication student Jan Gerboc, said: “I was one of the students who went to Belgium for two weeks. I utilised a lot of the time travelling even going to Cologne in Germany. I made new friends on the trip and we had a great time together. The lecturers in Belgium were helpful, insightful and shared critique which definitely elevated my design. Definitely a trip I will not forget!”
Sophie McLeod another student on the HND Visual Communication course, said: “It feels surreal and exciting to see my work displayed from digital to physical, upon the walls of our College corridors.”
