A Senior Trade Advisor with the UK Government’s Department for Business and Trade visited Forth Valley College recently.
Habib Raihan – who covers Education Services, Skills and Technology, and is based with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in the British Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, India – chose FVC as his only Scottish College stop, whilst visiting the country on 31 January.
Mr Raihan was on a three day UK wide trip where he was keen on meeting representatives from colleges interested in working in India, or keen to expand activity there. During his visit and tour of the FVC Falkirk Campus, he met with Principal Kenny MacInnes, Chair of the Forth Valley College Board of Management Abhishek Agarwal and, the College’s Global Partnerships Manager Jamie Allan.
Jamie Allan, FVC’s Global Partnerships Manager, said: “It was an honour to welcome Mr Raihan to our state of the art Falkirk campus to see our world leading, industry standard facilities and learn about the areas of specialism that FVC leads on when delivering skills and training to our students and public and private sector partners, both in the UK and abroad. I’m especially thankful to our Principal Kenny and Chair of the Board Abhi for finding the time to welcome our guest during such a busy period, as they only just launched FVC’s new five year strategy.
“There is tremendous synergy with India in terms of their skills demand and I was really encouraged to hear from Mr Raihan on the various opportunities that FVC can explore. He was extremely impressed with his visit and I look forward to continuing dialogue between us, including a potential trade mission in March.”
