VTCT SVQ Hairdressing Level 3
This course develops skills and knowledge for a career in hairdressing and the service industries. Students will develop competence and efficiency in all aspects of hairdressing including cutting, styling, colouring and colour correction.
Students will also benefit from a mandatory work placement one day per week.
Content
- Implement and maintain safe, hygienic and effective working practices
- Consult, assess, plan and prepare for hair services
- Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques
- Combine hairdressing cutting techniques to create a bespoke restyled look
- Creatively, set, style, dress and finish hair using advanced techniques
- Creatively colour and lighten the hair using advanced techniques
- Provide hair colour correction services
- Develop, enhance and evaluate your creative hairdressing skills
- Provide hair smoothing treatments

Entry requirements
- SVQ/NVQ / VRQ Level 2 Hairdressing or equivalent
- Selection will be by interview for internal applicants and external applicants will be required to complete a skills test.
- Due to Sector Skills Council regulations candidates must be 16 years old by 1 September 2026. There is no flexibility on this date as this would breach Health and Safety legislation.

• If your application is unsuccessful, you will be offered support in finding a suitable alternative course
