Art & Design Degree Pathway - Year Two
Year 2 builds upon the foundations established in Year 1, supporting students to further refine their creative practice and independent thinking.
Alongside advanced drawing and visual development, students undertake specialist projects in areas such as three-dimensional sculpture and personal projects, where independent enquiry and studio practice methods are introduced.
Greater emphasis is placed on research, experimentation and the development of personal concepts, allowing students to establish an increasingly distinctive approach to their work.
Throughout the year, students engage with contemporary creative opportunities and professional approaches, preparing them for progression to Year 3 of the BA Art & Contemporary Practices and ultimately the BA (Hons) Art & Contemporary Practices, delivered by Forth Valley College in our Stirling Campus.
Content
In Year two you will do the following:
- A series of projects with given briefs that you can respond to within your chosen specialism(s)
- A series of projects with self-generated briefs
- Personal Investigation into an area of your choice related to your chosen discipline(s)

- Mixed Media Project
- Specialist Project 2
- Personal Investigation & Reflection Project

- A wide range of career paths across the creative industries - including within arts organisations, education, freelance and self-employment

Entry requirements
- Applicants will be required to submit a digital folio of recent artwork along with a written statement and may be required to attend an interview
Plus: - HND Art & Design Year one with Graded Unit at Grade A or B
- HND in an art related subject with Graded Unit at Grade C
