Winners of Forth Valley College’s first ever Active Travel Winter Photography Competition have just been announced.
At the start of November 2025, staff and students were asked to show via their snaps how they travel actively whether it was a daily commute, a scenic cycle route or a lunchtime walk.
Active Travel hoped to use the photographs that were sent in to celebrate all the small, healthy and sustainable ways staff and students get about, and they had a great response with 15 student entries and eight staff entries.
The Student Winner was Paige Homes a NC Creative Industries student based at the Stirling Campus.
Paige, said: “This photo shows my arrival at Stirling Campus after travelling by public transport from Falkirk. The final part of my journey is always on foot, even on cold winter mornings like this.”
Judge’s comments on her photo: “Lots of blue, and you can see the bus stop and the College. Framing and composition feels thought out and I like the reflections.”
The Staff Winner was Jenna Morgan a Graphic Designer based in the Communications and Marketing Department.
Jenna, said: “This photo was taken on a morning walk, before work, at Victoria Park during the November 25 Step Count Challenge, when every step counted. I really liked the rising sun shining through the trees and the contrast of light and shade that was created.”
Judge’s comments on her photo: “The light is beautiful, and the image has been composed well."
Both winners will each receive a £25 Amazon voucher.
Katie Johnstone, FVC Active Travel Coordinator, said: “Thank you to everyone who took part and shared a moment from their journey, if you didn’t enter this time, keep an eye out… we’ll be running it again! Look out for the other entries which will be shared across other College platforms.”
