A group of students and staff from Falkirk District’s French twin town – Créteil – visited Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus recently.

Two staff and 18 pupils from Lycée Sainte Marie General, Technological and Vocational High School were welcomed on Thursday 26 March by FVC’s Global Partnership Manager Jamie Allan, after he had been previously approached by Falkirk District Twinning Association (FDTA) to facilitate the educational visit.

Falkirk has been twinned with Créteil, near Paris, for more than 40 years and this was the third time over the years that a group from the school had visited the Falkirk District, but the first ever trip to Forth Valley College.

Jamie, said: “I was happy to give the group – and three members of the Falkirk Twinning Association – a tour of our state-of-the-art Falkirk Campus, and I also provided a presentation about the College and also highlighted the opportunities to study here.

“Aside from seeing all of the facilities, students had a meeting with some HNC Sport and Fitness students and their lecturer Andy Steven, and also spoke with Art and Design lecturer Jane Paterson.

“I understand the Falkirk District Twinning Association are very keen to introduce us to the partnership opportunities available, especially considering the UK’s re-entry to the Erasmus programme for 2027 onwards, and we are happy to find out more and strengthen our relationship in the future.”

Elaine Mitchell Chair of Falkirk District Twinning Association (DTA), said: “Everyone was delighted by the warm welcome that they received at Forth Valley College and we were extremely impressed with the excellent facilities and the extensive range of courses offered across its campuses. FDTA have worked closely with Forth Valley College in the past, organising several very successful student exchanges between Falkirk District and Crèteil.  We look forward to more collaborations in the future.”
