A group of ten school pupils from across the Forth Valley area got active and immersed themselves in a wide range of fun sports and games during Forth Valley College's third annual Sports Summer Camp for Teens.
The week-long camp was held at the College's Falkirk Campus games hall and was delivered by Dean McKirdy, FVC's Active Campus Coordinator, from Monday 13 July to Friday 17 July.
The Sports Department's Multi-Sports for Teens programme was designed to provide young people with a practical and enjoyable experience, helping to develop teamwork, coordination, communication skills and, most importantly, have fun while staying active.
Throughout the week, both morning and afternoon sessions featured a variety of sports and activities, including basketball, volleyball, uni-hoc, boccia, badminton, football and dodgeball. Participants also enjoyed a number of improvised games that added to the excitement and variety of the programme.
The camp was filled with laughter, friendly competition and even a few tears of joy as participants challenged themselves, supported one another and celebrated their achievements. Fun was had by everyone, regardless of whether they finished as winners or runners-up.
Dean said: "The group were very enthusiastic and their willingness to learn, improve and take part was a joy to watch. They knew their stuff, worked well as a team and made sure everyone was included.
"Most importantly, when they lost, they lost gracefully. Credit must go to these young people for helping make this year's summer camp just as successful as previous ones.
"I wish them all the very best for the future. Who knows – there may even be a few future sports students among them. I hope the teens enjoyed the experience as much as I enjoyed delivering it.
“Special thanks go to FVC Leisure Facilities Coordinator Wai Mun Lee, who gave up time during the week to coach volleyball sessions and introduce a number of improvised games that complemented the camp programme.
“Final Thanks to Kasia Slapek, Student Association, and Katie Johnstone, Active Travel Coordinator, for donating items to create goody bags for all participants.”
