Forth Valley College’s Skills Transition Centre (STC) played a key role in two high profile events last week, highlighting its commitment to developing skills for Scotland’s future workforce.

On Tuesday 18 November, the STC welcomed over 100 guests including members of the Institute of Directors (IoD), the Federation of Small Businesses, Aspen People, Young Scot and pupils from local schools to the College’s Falkirk Campus. Ben McPherson, the Scottish Government Minister for Higher and Further Education was also in attendance. Attendees explored the cutting-edge technology and training resources designed to help reskill and upskill Scotland’s young people for the jobs of the future.

The following day, the STC team showcased a range of state-of-the-art kit at the annual Scotsman Green Skills Conference in Aberdeen. This flagship event brought together politicians, business leaders, academics, and media to discuss the challenges and opportunities in energy transition and the next generation of green skills. Topics included supply and demand for skills, links between education and industry, and strategies for reskilling the existing workforce.

Laura Fraser, Project Manager for the Skills Transition Centre, said: “We’re proud to demonstrate how the STC is helping bridge the gap between education and industry. By providing hands-on access to innovative technology, we’re equipping learners and businesses with the skills needed to thrive in a low-carbon economy.

“Being represented at these types of the events highlight the STC’s vital role in shaping Scotland’s sustainable future and supporting the transition to a greener economy.”
