Podcast promotes popular FVC Evening class

Wednesday 4th February 2026

Award winning creators of a popular Forth Valley College evening course – Writing For Publication – have just released a podcast to promote their next six week run at the Stirling Campus.

Author of 23 books Dr Tom Christie - who along with his sister Julie are directors of Stirling based Extremis Publishing – are gearing up to welcome the next batch of eager students to their course on Tuesday 17 February from 6pm-8pm.

The course is nearly full already, but there are one or two spaces left and to give potential students a flavour of what to expect, Tom asked FVC’s PR and Media Officer Stuart Hall to chat to him about his popular podcast recently: https://extremispublishing.podbean.com/e/the-writing-for-publication-course-at-forth-valley-college/.

The podcast is also available on the major streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts, and on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXJopRJsQr0

Stuart said: “Over the last decade or more Tom and Julie have built Extremis Publishing into one of Scotland’s leading independent publishers, winning many awards along the way, with more to be announced soon I understand.

“Their course has helped dozens of new writers to get their work published in print and online, and I am aware of at least one who has since gone on to have their crime fiction novels published with the help of their expertise and advice. I would encourage anyone who has ambitions to become a writer of any sort, to have a listen to the podcast and hear what Tom has to say about what is involved in the course, and then immediately check out how to apply on the Forth Valley College website.”

Tom added: “It’s always a pleasure to run the Writing for Publication course at Forth Valley College, and to meet different groups of people who have such obvious enthusiasm for the written word. There has never been a more exciting time to be involved with the publishing industry, and I hope I can provide plenty of encouragement to anyone who is either thinking about authoring a book, or who wants to take their writing career to the next level.”
