A new cohort of APTUS Offshore Apprentices took their first steps at Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus on Monday 7 September.
A total of 14 new Modern Apprentices who have been recruited through the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board’s (ECITB) APTUS programme - attended the onsite induction day.
They are studying for a four year Modern Apprenticeship titled Diploma in Plant & Systems Maintenance – with five studying Mechanical Engineering; five Electrical Engineering and four Instrumentation & Control.
Those attending on the day included: Adrian Wookey Head of New Entrants at ECITB; Elaine MacRae & Ally McLeod from the Wood Group; Rebecca McClelland Ian Cruikshank from CB&I; and Nabeila Foggo from PBS Ponticelli.
Representing FVC were Director of Curriculum in the Department of STEM and Construction Mhairi Hay, Curriculum Managers Colin McMorrin, Grishma Banakhar, Robert Simpson, Mhairi Hay, FVC’s Head of Apprenticeships Caroline Hogg, Assistant Client Manager Christopher Nisbet and Apprenticeship Officer, Fiona Speirs.
Caroline Hogg, FVC Head of Apprenticeships, said: “It’s great once again to welcome a new cohort of Modern Apprentices onto the exciting APTUS programme.
“This programme is another example of the excellent relationship we have with the ECITB and we are confident that it will enhance the MAs’ opportunities to progress onto employment in the engineering industry.
“Both the ECITB and Forth Valley College play an important role to support the Scottish economy. The programme has built a tremendous reputation for training and developing new engineering professionals and we look forward to strengthening our relationship in the future.”
