Two recent Forth Valley College Hospitality Management graduates have been awarded prestigious places on the new Queen Margaret University (QMU) Apex Hotels Scholarship Programme.
After a highly competitive selection process, former HND Hospitality Management students Viktoriia and Yana Surina – the latter of which was also presented with the Most Inspirational Student in the Department of Creative, Digital & Leisure Industries award, at the College’s Graduation ceremony in October 2025 – were chosen as Apex Hotel Scholars at Queen Margaret University.
With only five scholarships available, it is an outstanding achievement for two Forth Valley College graduates to secure spots in the same year. Each scholarship provides £3,000 over two years, along with exclusive access to industry insights, professional networks, and the potential for paid opportunities within the Apex Hotels group.
Viktoriia Hirenko, now a QMU student originally from Ukraine, expressed her excitement about the opportunity: “The APEX scholarship is an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the world of hospitality and to see first-hand how a truly exceptional level of service is created. It’s a priceless chance to learn, grow, and gain knowledge from professionals who have already achieved real success in the industry.
Karyn King, Operations Manager for Hospitality at Forth Valley College, said: “It’s always wonderful to see our recent graduates progress in their careers. With only five scholarships on offer, it is incredible that both students managed to secure places this year. We are extremely proud of Yana and Viktoriia and wish them every success as they move forward.”
