A new Falkirk Youth Hub facility was launched on Monday 10 August at Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus.
Open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the facility will offer CV advice, skills training, mental health support, housing advice, and careers guidance under one roof.
The Falkirk Youth Hub will work with local partners, including Gordon MacNicol, Forth Valley College, Enable, Link Living and Falkirk Foundation, to deliver tailored support to 16 to 24 year-olds that reflects the needs of the local economy, helping to break down barriers to work and accelerate pathways into employment. It will also work with Skills Development Scotland (SDS), Cyrenians, local education and training providers, employers and other employability services.
The Hub supports young people to build confidence, develop skills and progress towards employment, education, training, apprenticeships or volunteering. We provide personalised support that recognises every young person's journey is different, helping them identify goals, overcome barriers and take positive steps towards their future. These partnerships help create pathways into learning, training, work experience and sustainable employment.
UK Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden, said: “This new Youth Hub marks a major step forward for young people in Falkirk, delivering real support and opportunity right here in the community.
"We are determined to bring opportunity to every corner of the country because no matter where you grow up, you deserve the chance to earn, to learn and to get on in life."
Sarah Higgins, FVC's Vice Principal Learning and Student Experience, said: "Forth Valley College is proud to host and support Falkirk's Youth Hub. Working closely with our partners, we aim to help provide young people with the knowledge, skills and opportunities they need to achieve their potential and move forward into positive destinations."
A key part of our offer is the five-week DISCO Programme, designed to help young people explore their strengths, interests and aspirations while developing confidence, employability skills and a clearer understanding of the opportunities available to them. Through a structured programme session on Discovery, Interviews, Support, CV and Outcome.
At week seven of the journey the Youth Hub will be better placed to review the next best step for the customers and support towards their desired outcome.
The aim is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where young people can develop the skills, confidence and connections they need to achieve positive outcomes and realise their full potential.
