Forth Valley College is supporting a new joint statement from the Falkirk Community Planning Partnership in relation to ongoing events in the Falkirk area.
The College is a member of the Falkirk Community Planning Partnership (CPP) - a local partnership that brings together communities, public agencies, the third sector and the private sector, to work together to improve the lives of people in the Falkirk area.

The statement demonstrates a shared commitment to ensuring that everyone in the Falkirk area feels safe, respected and included.
Kenny MacInnes, Principal for Forth Valley College, said: “As a member of the Falkirk Community Planning Partnership, we’re building a fairer, more inclusive Falkirk. Guided by two of our values - to be Inclusive and be Respectful - we will challenge discrimination, support those affected and ensure staff and students can learn and work free from harassment and victimisation, with equal opportunity to progress.”
Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn, Leader of Falkirk Council said: “As a partnership, we felt it was important to speak clearly and collectively at this point. The statement reflects a shared position across public services, community organisations and partners about the kind of Falkirk we want to be.
“We know that recent events and wider national debate can create uncertainty and concern for some people. When that happens, it is important that organisations work together to be clear about what we stand for, what behaviour is not acceptable, and how we support people who may feel targeted or excluded.
“This statement is about setting a clear and consistent baseline. It reinforces that racism, discrimination and hate have no place in our communities, and that everyone who lives, works or studies in the Falkirk area should feel safe and respected.
“By agreeing this position together, partners are also committing to act consistently, to challenge prejudice where it exists, and to keep working with communities to build understanding and cohesion over the long term.”
