After the success of the recent return of the Stirling Campus Chase, a date has now been set for the first ever Falkirk Campus Chase event – and plans in place for a similar challenge at the Alloa Campus.
The time trial event for Beginner Walkers, Intermediate and Advanced runner categories has been pencilled in for Thursday 5 February 2026 during the Forth Valley Students Association’s Welcome Week, and registration is now open for any staff and students interested in putting their name down to take part
‘The Campus Chase’ was first run in 2013 around the Stirling Campus and ran for four years, before being resurrected again in September 2025. Now the organisers feel the time is right to introduce an event for the Falkirk Campus, as well as making firm plans to make it a hat-trick with an exploratory ‘Pilot Campus Chase Step Challenge’ to be set at the Alloa Campus during the same week.
Inspired by the ‘Great Court Run’ held at Trinity College, Cambridge, which was immortalised in the film Chariots of Fire, the Campus Chase time trial will see serious racers and fun-runners attack the perimeter of the Falkirk Campus building in various numbers of laps against the clock.
It is hoped that as well as attracting eager participants registering for the Chase, students attending the Forth Valley Student Association’s ‘Welcome Week’ event at Falkirk in February 2026, will cheer on their fellow students who will be flying round the building.
The event will be split into three sections:
• Intermediate Runners – Three laps (2,100m) 10.30-11.30 TBC
• Advanced Runners – Five laps (3,500m) 11.45-12.45 TBC
• Beginner Walkers only – One lap (700m) 13.00-14.00 TBC

The male and female students who achieve the fastest times will be presented with the Falkirk Campus Chase trophy. Their name will also be etched forever in a soon to be erected leader board, but it’s not just about running fast it’s the taking part that counts.
Kasia Slapek, Forth Valley Student Association Student Engagement Coordinator, said: “After the success of the new Stirling Campus Chase, it was felt that we could offer a similar event at all our Campuses and the Falkirk Campus is next up with a test pilot event taking place at Alloa too. So do you have what it takes to enter the Campus Chase? We are hoping that the time slots fill up very soon before the event in February and it will enhance our Welcome Week event at the Falkirk Campus on the same day. All you have to do is register on a first come first served basis. We can’t wait for this new event and to see new benchmark times being set for the future.”
Dean McKirdy, FVC’s Active Campus Coordinator, said: “The new Falkirk Campus Chase and the plans for one at Alloa, is fantastic news for the College. I have no doubts they will be just as popular as the original one, so make sure you don't miss out on signing up to this fantastic opportunity!”
