NQ Pathway to Fitness, Health & Exercise

This course aims to provide the foundations for future employment in the fitness and exercise industry or further progression to related higher education courses within areas such as fitness, health and exercise or sports coaching. It also aims to develop an awareness of a range of team and individual activities and includes the opportunity to develop personal expertise. 

There is also a National Progression Award in Exercise & Fitness Leadership Award (SCQF Level 6) embedded within this course.

This course can also prepare students for future progression onto HNC study within Sports Coaching or Fitness, Health and Exercise.

  • Health and wellbeing provision

Upon successful completion of this course, candidates would be eligible to apply for progression onto the following courses:

  • HNC Fitness Health & Exercise
  • HNC Sports Coaching & Development

Mandatory:

  • Attendance at a group based course information and Q&A session.
  • Clear Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check required. Further information on the PVG Scheme will be issued to successful applicants prior to enrolment.
  • Strong interest and active participation within Fitness, Health & Exericse.

Plus one of the following:

  • Three National 5 awards (or equivalent) preferably English, PE and a science subject at grade C or above
  • Successful completion of NQ Sport and Fitness Course (SCQF Level 5)
  • Alternative sports related qualifications at an appropriate level will also be considered

  • Students will be required to purchase relevant items of equipment and clothing

• If your application is successful, you will be invited for interview. For January start courses interviews will be in Nov/Dec and interviews for August start courses will take place between February and May
• If your application is unsuccessful, you will be offered support in finding a suitable alternative course
