The Gallery Restaurant: Hospitality Academy (Schools)
***PLEASE NOTE - only pupils who will be at school during session 2026/27 can apply for this course***
Our Hospitality Academy Course introduces students to the fundamentals of the food and hospitality industry through engaging, hands-on lessons, set in our award-winning training restaurant.
Students will be running the live restaurant, spending time in both front of house and kitchen environments across the academic year.
This course will run on Friday 9.30am - 3.00pm
Please note that the course you are applying for is split across two sessions. When submitting your application, the dates displayed will be for the June Induction in session 2025/26. Once successfully enrolled on this session, you will automatically be transferred to the 2026/27 session, which begins in August, for the remainder of the course.
Content
- Prepare, cook and serve a range of dishes using professional techniques in a live setting.
- Work safely and hygienically in a kitchen environment
- Understand menu planning and basic food costing
- Develop teamwork, communication, and time management skills
- Gain an introduction to front-of-house service, barista skills, customer service and food and beverage knowledge/skills.
Entry requirements
- S4, S5 and S6 students from Aug 2026
- Pupils should have either achieved or be working towards Nat 5 qualifications alongside this course
- An interest in food, cookery, customer service, and/or hospitality careers which should be shown in application form
