Southeast Asian Street Food - Evening
This six-week evening courses introduces learners to the vibrant and diverse world of Southeast Asian street food. Learners will explore authentic ingredients, cooking techniques, and cultural influences from Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Each session is practical and hands-on, allowing learners to prepare and taste a variety of popular street food dishes. The course is suitable for beginners and food enthusiasts who wish to build confidence in the kitchen, develop new skills and experience global cuisine in a relaxed and social environment.

Content
- Week 1: Introduction to Southeast Asian cuisine, key ingredients, knife skills, basic cooking techniques and simple snacks (e.g. spring rolls)
- Week 2: Thai street food - Pad Thai, Thai salad, understanding flavour balance (sweet, sour, salty, spicy)
- Week 3: Vietnamese street food - fresh rolls, noodle bowls, herbs and light cooking techniques
- Week 4: Singaporean & Malaysian street food - laksa, Hainanese chicken rice, satay and peanut sauce
- Week 5: Indonesian & Filipino street food - nasi goreng, satay variations, chicken adobo, pancit, lumpia
- Week 6: Final session - street food platter, presentation skills, tasting and course recap
Entry requirements
- No formal qualifications required
- Suitable for beginners and those with an interest in cooking
- Basic level of English required to follow instructions
Materials
- Printed recipe will be provided
- All core ingredients will be provided
- Learners are advised to bring containers to take food home
- Aprons are recommended

Course places are only secured after payment/funding has been arranged.
As per the College Tuition Fees and Refund Policy, tuition fees are non-refundable except under exceptional circumstances. Refer to our Tuition Fee Refund and Withdrawal Procedure on the College website.
Student Paying Fees
Fees of less than £150 must be paid in full. Payment by instalment is available, provided the course fee is £150 or greater. You can access a direct debit form here.
Instalments must be paid via direct debit over a 4-month period and an initial 30% deposit is required in order to secure your place. You will not be able to apply online if paying by direct debit please contact Evening Admissions - eveninginfo@forthvalley.ac.uk.
Employer Paying Fees
If your employer is paying for your tuition fees, an Employers Agreement Form or letter from your employer must be submitted prior to or on enrolment. You can access the Employer Agreement Form here. We ask that you complete the Employer Agreement Form and return via email to eveninginfo@forthvalley.ac.uk.
Please also be aware that if you do not meet the residency requirements to be assessed as a home fee student, you may be required to pay a higher fee rate. For evening courses, this rate is double the home fee advertised.
