Higher Chemistry - Evening
This course covers key areas relating to chemistry and consists of various units and an external SQA examination.
It is designer to deepen students' understanding of chemistry and its relevance in everyday life, industry, and the environment. This course builds on prior knowledge, introducing more advanced concepts and practical skills necessary for further education and careers in science.
It offers a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that not only enhances students' knowledge of chemistry but also develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It prepares students for further academic pursuits and provides valuable insights into the applications of chemistry in the real world.
This course will be delivered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, during term-time only. Please refer to our term dates here.

Progression
- Successful completion of this course opens pathways to advanced studies in chemistry, such as Advanced Higher Chemistry or related fields like biochemistry, chemical engineering, and environmental science. It could also lead to a laboratory apprenticeship, employment as an entry level laboratory technician, or provide a solid foundation for various careers in science, medicine, engineering, and technology.

- Candidates should ideally have achieved at National 5 level or equivalent although previous experience may be considered

Student Paying Fees
Fees of less than £150 must be paid in full. Payment by instalment is available, provided the course fee is £150 or greater. You can access a direct debit form here.
Instalments must be paid via direct debit over a 4-month period and an initial 30% deposit is required in order to secure your place. You will not be able to apply online if paying by direct debit please contact Evening Admissions - eveninginfo@forthvalley.ac.uk.
Employer Paying Fees
If your employer is paying for your tuition fees, an Employers Agreement Form or letter from your employer must be submitted prior to or on enrolment. You can access the Employer Agreement Form here. We ask that you complete the Employer Agreement Form and return via email to - eveninginfo@forthvalley.ac.uk.
Fee Waiver
Some students may be eligible for a tuition fee waiver if in receipt of certain types of benefits. Fee waiver evidence must be submitted either before or upon enrolment. Refer to our Tuition and Fee Waiver Policy for further information.
