Live Performance - Events (Schools)

Step into the spotlight with Forth Valley College’s Stirling-based course in Live Performance Events.
Designed for S5 and S6 pupils, this hands-on programme introduces the exciting world of event planning and delivery. Learn how to design, coordinate, and run a live performance while building key employability skills in teamwork, communication, and creative problem-solving.
The course will also include site visits to event venues within the local area, this includes Edinburgh Playhouse, Stirling Castle and Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
This course will introduce senior school pupils to the core principles of planning and delivering live performance events, while developing practical employability skills through hands-on experience in a creative, collaborative environment.
This course will run on Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm
Please note that the course you are applying for is split across two sessions. When submitting your application, the dates displayed will be for the June Induction in session 2025/26. Once successfully enrolled on this session, you will automatically be transferred to the 2026/27 session, which begins in August, for the remainder of the course.
Content
- Event Planning & Coordination Understanding roles, timelines, budgets, and logistics involved in live events.
- Teamwork & Communication Working effectively in groups, managing responsibilities, and resolving challenges.
- Creative Problem-Solving Adapting to real-world constraints and making decisions under pressure.
- Health & Safety Awareness Applying safe working practices in live event environments.
- Professional Conduct & Self-Management Timekeeping, responsibility, and presentation in a workplace-style setting
Pupils will work in teams to plan, prepare, and deliver a live performance event. This includes:
- Designing the event concept
- Coordinating logistics and roles
- Executing the event in front of a live audience
Entry requirements
- S5/6 from August 2026
- Achieved a range of Nat 5 qualifications while in S4
- Suitable interest in a career in the events or creative industries
- Other candidates may be considered if working towards a range of National 5 qualifications, along with additional experience in events or creative industries.
