SCOTS Introduction to Engineering (Schools)
Please note that only secondary school pupils staying on at school and who will be starting S4, S5 or S6 in August 2026 are eligible to apply for this course.
Our engineering course will take you right into our workshops using industry machines for a wide range of projects.
You will be measured for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as overalls, safety boots, etc, and learn skills as well as the associated health and safety elements of this trade.
Enrolment in this course is made through referrals from the school, so please get in touch with a member of your school's staff for more details.
Progression
We want you to have a positive experience at college and will do all we can to help you settle in and enjoy your time with us. We work closely with your school to ensure that any issues you may have will be addressed quickly so you are supported well.
Our staff is encouraging and keen to work with you to get the best out of the program. Successful completion of the SCOTS programme can lead to further school partnership courses such as Skills for Work, NPAs and even our Foundation Apprenticeship programme, equivalent to a Higher.
However, some pupils choose to leave school after SCOTS and apply directly for full-time courses.
SCOTS will give you the confidence to follow these routes, and if you are still trying to figure out what to do, staff will be on hand to talk you through your options.
We run various Full-time Engineering courses, please click here to view your options.
