ECITB Scholarship: Mechanical Engineering
This one-year course will be delivered at our Falkirk Campus, five days per week from August 2026 to June 2027.
This full-time Mechanical Engineering course forms part of the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) Scholarship Programme and is designed to prepare learners for entry into the engineering construction sector. Delivered in partnership with the ECITB, the course provides a structured, industry-aligned route into mechanical engineering apprenticeships or direct employment within the engineering construction industry.
The course combines practical workshop-based training with essential theoretical knowledge, ensuring learners develop the skills, behaviors, and safety awareness expected in a modern industrial environment. Throughout the course, learners are supported by both Forth Valley College and ECITB staff, with a strong focus on employability, discipline, and readiness for work on engineering construction sites.

Entry requirements
- Three National 5 awards (or equivalent) including maths, science or technology subject. (Please note: Applications of Maths qualifications will not be accepted as an alternative to Maths qualifications irrespective of the level achieved)
- Successful completion of a relevant Access course or an appropriate group of National Qualification Units at SCQF Level 5
- Applicants who do not meet these criteria, but have relevant experience or alternative qualifications will be considered

- If your application is successful, you will be invited for interview. For January start courses interviews will be in Nov/Dec and interviews for August start courses will take place between February and May
- If your application is unsuccessful, you will be offered support in finding a suitable alternative course
- Applicants who provide a mobile phone number on their application form will be sent a text reminder prior to the day of interview
