BA Art & Contemporary Practices - Year Four (University of the Highlands and Islands)

Year 4 focuses on the completion of the Honours degree through three core modules:

• Major Research Project
• Professional Profile
• Major Final Project

Students develop an individual artistic practice through studio-based work, research, collaboration and professional practice. The programme encourages engagement with contemporary art through areas such as participatory art, community initiatives, digital creation, relational practices, curation, art and education, and public art.

The programme supports progression into a wide range of roles within the contemporary arts and creative industries, including:

• Contemporary Art Practice
• Community Arts
• Public Art
• Arts and Education
• Creative Projects within Health, Recreation and Education Settings

The course is designed to help students build a professional profile and develop the skills required for employment within the arts sector.

Students may progress to postgraduate study, including:

• MA Art and Social Practice

• Successful completion of a relevant HND, normally HND Contemporary Art Practice or equivalent qualification.
• Applicants may be required to submit a portfolio of work.
• An interview may be required.
• Applicants with other relevant qualifications or experience will be considered on an individual basis.
