HND Cyber Security - Year One
Cyber security is an ongoing key priority for individuals, businesses, and government in order to protect against digital threats to personal data and business systems. Skills to help prevent attacks are in short supply and this course aims to equip students with the knowledge required to progress to a career in cyber security.
Students on this course will learn the principals of cyber resilience, from ethical hacking to data recovery.

- After successfully completing this course, you will have the skills needed to gain entry level role in the cyber security or networking industry.
Progression
Learners may progress to further education or employment. The qualification should permit learners to progress to degree courses in cyber security (or related subjects) with advanced standing. Direct entry to second or third year is possible.

Entry requirements
One of the following:
- Two Highers in relevant subjects at grade C or above (one of these Highers should be in either Maths (or Applications of Maths), Computing Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a technology subject)
- A computing related certificate course (at SCQF Level 6) e.g. NC Computing
- Mature applicants with relevant experience will be assessed individually. If you do not have any formal qualifications but can demonstrate relevant computer programming skills and relevant maths knowledge, you will also be considered for a place on the course.
Additional requirements:
- Applicants will be invited to attend an interview.

Further advice for full-time applicants:

• Before starting the application process, please ensure you already hold or are working towards the relevant entry qualifications required for the course you are applying for

• If your application is successful, you will be invited for interview. For January start courses interviews will be in Nov/Dec and interviews for August start courses will take place between February and May
• If your application is unsuccessful, you will be offered support in finding a suitable alternative course
• Applicants who provide a mobile phone number on their application form will be sent a text reminder prior to the day of interview
