  • FA Construction Skills (Schools)

    Please note that only secondary school pupils staying on at school and who will be starting S5/S6 in August 2024 are eligible to apply for this course.

    This course provides students with experience of a broad range of practical construction trade skills and aims to give individuals greater confidence in their own abilities and inform them about opportunities for progression within the Construction sector.

    The course allows the learner to work on a project for a client with construction industry employer input.

    The deadline for applications is Friday 15 March 2024 but early applications are encouraged.

  • Newstart - Construction and Engineering

    This 19-week course is aimed at learners who want to experience a range of academic and vocational subjects whilst simultaneously improving their core skills. Learners will also attend workshops which will facilitate personal development.

    Personal learning plans provide support to learners when applying for future courses.

    Core Skills sessions are a compulsory element of the course which is aimed at SCQF - Level 4/5 and based at the Falkirk Campus.

    The construction and engineering path is for learners who are interested in vocational work in workshops and pursuing further study or apprenticeships as a joiner, painter, welder, bricklayer or engineer.

    Students on this course will have the opportunity to complete SQA units.

    This course aims to provide a solid foundation in a range of construction trade skills. It promotes the experience of working with others in a practical construction environment and gives opportunities for employment at a basic skill level in the construction industry. To achieve this, students will learn about the skills and attitudes that employers are looking for, how to work effectively with others and what to expect when in the workplace.

    The course will consist of practical workshops, classroom based learning sessions and directed study using ICT and the College's virtual learning environment (Moodle).

    Students will also gain experience in the use of construction tools and equipment and develop an appreciation of the interdependence of various building trades in the construction industry.

    This course is delivered at the Falkirk and Alloa campus.

  • NQ Introduction to Construction Craft

    This course delivered at the Alloa Campus, provides students with experience of a broad range of practical construction trade skills and aims to give individuals greater confidence in their own abilities and inform them about opportunities for progression within the Construction sector.

  • HNC Architectural Technology with Digital Construction

    This course is delivered at our Falkirk campus and provides students with a sound understanding of Architectural Technology and the necessary skills for employment within the construction industry.

    Students will engage in learning effective Architectural practice and design management by exploring digital interactive models using VR technology in line with the current principles of Building information Modelling (BIM) and digital construction practices. Students will learn how to use a variety of CAD, modelling and digital survey software’s to design buildings collaboratively, that enhance the built environment.
