Yana Surina

Yana Surina (42) from Arnprior, West Stirlingshire graduated with a HND Hospitality Management, and also won Forth Valley College’s Most Inspirational Student in the Department of Creative, Digital and Leisure Industries for 2025.

She said: “I feel very happy and proud. This award is not only about my studies, but also about my life. I had many difficulties, but I did not give up. This award means my strength and the support of people around me.

“I chose Forth Valley College because the College has a good hospitality course. It also gives students real practice and chances to grow. The atmosphere is friendly and supportive.

“The College has great places for study, like classrooms, restaurant, and kitchen. The lecturers are very professional and also very kind. They always help, especially international students.

“The College gave me knowledge and also confidence. I learned teamwork, organisation, and time management. Projects, like the Turkish dinner and the trip to Nepal, helped me to grow and learn leadership.

“Thanks to Forth Valley College, I got a job at Gleneagles Hotel. This is a big step for me. The skills and confidence from College helped me in my career.

“I would recommend the College to people who want to work in hospitality. You learn not only theory but also practice. The atmosphere is supportive, and you can grow as a person.

“The best part was working on projects and the Nepal trip. I made great memories, worked with a team, and felt proud of myself
