Ross Crozier (18) from Falkirk is a Bricklaying Modern Apprentice who works for Persimmon Homes.
He said: “I work with Persimmon Homes in the East of Scotland region and I’m currently in my second year of my four year apprenticeship.
“My employers build a range of new houses across the UK and my role is to learn from others within the business and to help make the houses to the best of my ability.
“I think the Modern Apprenticeship Programme at Forth Valley College is really good for offering people of any age and background, an opportunity to better their skills and themselves as a person.
“Forth Valley College has helped me progress by making me better at my trade and teaching me different skills I can use on site.
“I think the lecturers and staff at Forth Valley College are very friendly and supportive. I get support from my lecturer and site visits from my on-site Apprenticeship Officer, which helps me stay on track and keep focused on completing my apprenticeship. The facilities are excellent giving me a workshop that is looked after by the technicians, who do a great job helping the apprentices in any way they can.
“I would recommend the Modern Apprenticeship as it not only teaches you skills for your trade, but also gives you life skills you can use anywhere in life.
“The best part of my apprenticeship has to be taking the challenge on itself. I take great pride in my work and I’m really proud of where I am at the moment.
“I would say the best bit of advice I could give would be to be curious about the trade and always work hard.”
