My name is Larissa Purves and I am the Cycling and Walking officer at Forth Valley College. I have been working in this role at College for the last two years, helping to promote active travel, sustainability and health and wellbeing.
In the College, I promote and lead led walk and cycles, create personal travel plans and identify safe ways to commute into the campuses.
I am passionate about what I do and to me, commuting to work by walking and cycling helps me to get up and motivated in the morning. Even my 15 minute walking commute makes me feel like I’ve already done something positive for my health and wellbeing. My favourite walking/cycling route in the Forth Valley area is Callendar Park, as there are so many different walks to on go and I love seeing all the different types of nature there.
I have been working with classes in all campuses to promote active travel and leading led walks. Over the next month Active Travel have planned to do weekly walks on a Tuesday lunch. We also encourage staff to cycle by using our fleet bikes, including going on cycles on a Wednesday.
