Liam retired from his post as Executive Director of Finance at the University of Stirling almost 14 years in the role at the end of 2022. Prior to that Liam had been Director of Finance in Queen Margaret University a post he took up in 2004 after 10 years with Scottish Funding Councils.
As well as his direct experience from working in higher education institutions Liam, has brough to bear his detailed knowledge of the financial and accountability framework in which further education colleges in Scotland operate from his time at SFC. This has been valuable to the Board on which he has served since December 2013 as it attempts to address effectively the financial challenges it faces.
Liam qualified as an accountant in 1985 and prior to that he studied accountancy at the University of Stirling and graduated with a BA in Accounting with Business Law. Liam has been a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts for around 20 years.
