Anne-Marie's early career was as a Claims Advisor for 10 years in Scottish Amicable in Stirling. Following this she moved on to working with young people with additional support needs in a in a variety of environments. Later Anne-Marie was employed by Clackmannan College, Stirling Youth Services and Clackmannan Council working on the National Adult Literacy plans and supporting adults with literacy issues In this role, Anne-Marie was active in promoting Assistive Technology in learning and teaching. Since 2006 Anne-Marie has worked as a Curriculum Quality Leader and a lecturer in Forth Valley College.
As a lecturer and a trade union leader, Anne-Marie has a strong ethos of Equalities and access to educational opportunities. Anne-Marie views her role as a trade union representative as essential to promoting strong governance and transparency. Her role in the Learning and Student Experience Committee allows her to bring her knowledge and experience to the discussions.
Anne-Marie gained the TQFE (Teaching Qualification in Further Education in 2006) and the PDA in Strategies to Support Inclusive Learning and Work. Later she gaining the CELTA award to teach students whose first language is not English. Anne-Marie also gained a Post Graduate Award from Aberdeen University in mentoring.
