STEM Welding Workshops for Schools

In collaboration with the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB), we're excited to bring local schools an innovative and hands-on STEM experience: the Virtual Reality Welding Simulator.

Delivered by our dedicated STEM Engagement Team, this hands-on workshop introduces students to the world of welding through cutting-edge augmented reality (AR) simulators. Pupils will gain real-world engineering skills in a safe, fun, and engaging format - designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and inspire future careers.

Why take part?

  • Interactive STEM workshops led by industry experts

  • Competitions and awards to celebrate student achievement

  • Career inspiration for pupils at a critical stage in their development

  • Support for inclusive growth and addressing skills shortages across the Central Belt

  • This initiative also supports Scotland’s Net Zero transition by encouraging more young people, particularly females, to explore careers in welding and engineering.

Who can participate?

  • Term 1 (Aug–Nov): S4 to S6 students
  • Term 2 (Jan–Mar): S1 to S3 students

Each term concludes with a student competition – based on the highest scorers from each session - hosted at Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus:
