Most of your learning will take place in the workplace so you can look forward to lots of hands-on practical training. However you will still be required to attend college on a part-time basis – usually either one day per week or one full week every month. The programmes are normally one to four years in duration.
MAs can be structured in a variety of ways depending on the subject area and the employers requirements. However programmes will usually include a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) at either Levels 2, 3 or 4 which will relate directly to the specific job or industry sector. This will be assessed on your skills in the workplace.
Some MAs will also complete relevant qualifications in their field at HNC, HND or even degree level.
Core skills will also form an important element of an MA programme. Core skills include communication, problem solving, information technology and working with others.
Please note - Applications for the MA in Engineering and MA in Life Sciences commencing August 2021 will close on Friday 26 February 2021.
MAs even benefits employers too!
