Two computing students from Forth Valley College have become the first in the world to achieve full certification on a series of Foundation qualifications including Java and Databases.

Oliver Hobson and John Gibson joined a group of 74 other FVC computing students - and lecturers Susan Gardner and Willie McRae and Curriculum Manager Vivien Gallacher - who visited the Oracle's Scotland base on Wednesday 2 June, where they were all presented with certificates for courses they had undertaken over and above their HNDs.

The visit also included speeches from Iris Lanny (Program Manager UK and Ireland) and Jane Richardson (Director of Oracle EMA). FVC's Head of Creative Industries Martin Boyle, received the Oracle Member Institution plaque on behalf of the college.

Vivien Gallacher, said: "We are very proud to have built up such an excellent relationship with Oracle who are sector leaders in the computing industry. It's great to see so many of our students attaining these excellent industry qualifications side by side with their HNDs. Oliver and John attained a total of five Oracle certificates which is a truly brilliant effort and we are very proud of them."
