Volunteer shout out for ‘Play to Talk’ football awareness raiser
Daniel Graham

A Falkirk Campus based student is appealing for volunteers to play in a mental health awareness raising football match – which forms part of his course.

Daniel Graham (18) who is studying for a NQ Introduction to Sport and Fitness is asking for any students or staff who would be willing to sign up and take part in the ‘Play to Talk’ football game on Tuesday 24 May from12:55 till 1:30 in the main games hall at the Falkirk Campus.

Daniel, said: “Play to Talk is a game of football with two teams like normal, but in the first half there is not going to be any talking allowed whatsoever. Then in the second half there will be talking like normal.

“The purpose of the game is to raise more awareness of mental health issues and to encourage people to start talking. What we will see in the first half, when there is not going to be any talking allowed, it will be harder for the teams to communicate meaning the game will be harder for them. But when they do start to talk it will become much easier to play the game.

“With this point in mind mental health wise, I am hoping the comparison will help show the difference of what happens when people do start talking and communicating and when they don't.”
