Virtual training becomes a reality thanks to funding

Forth Valley College has received an Immersive Soft Skills Education Grant from Bodyswaps and Meta Immersive Learning, to help boost training techniques for students.

As part of the grant, FVC will support school pupils, full-time students and perspective Modern Apprentices enhance their soft skills with access to Bodyswaps’ impressive library of resources that they can experience through Meta’s Quest 2 headsets. 

FVC’s Head of Apprenticeships, Skills & Commercial Zak Stark, said: “We are delighted to receive this funding from Bodyswaps and Meta Immersive Learning and we can confirm it will be put to excellent use helping to train school pupils, FVC students and perspective Modern Apprentices.

“We will use these headsets to introduce participants to the world of work allowing them to practise and develop their communication, teamwork and leadership skills. These simulated activities provide safe and realistic environments allowing participants to boost their confidence prior to progressing within training, education or employment.”

Through the installation of state of the art audio visual hardware and expertly designed classrooms with stable and secure streaming platforms, the new Bodyswaps and Meta equipment will allow FVC lecturers and trainers to simultaneously engage student groups across the College’s three campuses.

FVC will also link with other colleges to share materials and delivery. This collaboration will further enhance the learner experience allowing the College to continue to meet their mission statement of ‘Making Learning Work’.
