Two booked in for Book Week Scotland

A Scottish author and a cartoonist have already been booked in to visit Forth Valley College during Book Week Scotland 2022 from 14-20 November.

At the Stirling Campus on Monday 14 November cartoonist and comic book designer Malcy Duff will be running a creative workshop from 10.30am-11.30am in the Kildean suite and fiction writer Lisa Ballantyne will be giving a talk and perhaps some readings from her work at the Falkirk Campus on Thursday 17 November from 12.30pm-13.30pm in the Antonine suite.

Malcy is a cartoonist and comic book writer from Edinburgh. His comix include The PineappleThe Banana / Skin JokeA 52 Second Silence For Topsy, and Rrobots. His work has been published in a variety of magazines and has been exhibited internationally, and in the UK and Ireland, including shows at DCA Dundee, Talbot Rice Edinburgh, ICA London, and Catalyst Arts Belfast. In 2008 he was awarded a Donald Dewar Arts Award for outstanding work in the comic book form. He has been working with the Scottish Book Trust as part of their Live Literature strand since 2014, delivering workshops and talks.

Lisa Ballantyne is the author of the Edgar-Award Nominated The Guilty One, which was translated into nearly thirty languages. Her second novel Redemption Road (also called Everything She Forgot) was a USA Today Bestseller and her third, Little Liar, was published in 2019.

She lives in Glasgow. Although she writes fiction for adults, Lisa has worked with a range of age groups. She gives readings, creative writing workshops, as well as workshops aimed at encouraging reading and literacy. She has led poetry workshops with children, and literacy workshops in three Scottish prisons in addition to participatory arts sessions aimed at improving mental health.

This year the Learning Services Team are thrilled to be hosting award winning author, Lisa Ballantyne, at our Falkirk Campus and also award winning cartoonist, Malcy Duff, at our Stirling Campus.
