Too many Cooks improve the graduation broth!

Graduation at Stirling Castle served up a tasty wee quirk this year when a student proved that his speciality was by both name and nature.

Richard Cook was delighted to graduate from Forth Valley College with a HND Professional Cookery and compliments were made to the chef as he collected his scroll on the evening of Tuesday 8 February.

The former student who is now also a qualified baker and working at Vera’s Artisan Bakery in Stirling, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed by time studying at Forth Valley College for the last four years and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone. The best bit for me were the lecturers and the friend that you make along the way.

“It is regularly pointed out to me that I am a Cook by name and a cook by nature and I am delighted by that. Stirling Castle really is a lovely setting for a graduation.”

FVC hosted two successful graduation events at Stirling Castle (Tuesday 8 February) and Falkirk Town Hall (Wednesday 9 February).

More than 930 students were eligible to graduate this year from Forth Valley College and 204 of them chose to collect their scrolls - 62 at Stirling Castle and 142 at Falkirk.

Nicola Killean OBE, CEO of Sistema Scotland gave the keynote speech at Stirling Castle, while guest speaker at the Falkirk Town Hall event was MSP Michelle Thomson.

The Alloa Bowmar Pipe Band were also on hand to lead in the top table and stage party at both ceremonies.
