Local indie rock band Tapedeck 45 pressed play to start this year’s Forth Valley Student Association Freshers’ Fair, with a live online Zoom gig on Monday 20 September.
The five piece band played a half hour set incorporating eight songs in front of several students and staff from FVC and set the scene for a fun, entertaining and informative week of events.
Sam Stewart, lead singer for the band, said: “I loved playing Freshers’ it was great, I think we played eight songs for around 40 minutes and it was fantastic. The best bit for us personally was definitely trialling some of our new songs live. We’re really proud of our upcoming album and we’re delighted to share some of this with the students. The feedback we’ve had has all been positive and we can’t wait to share the footage online to a wider audience. We’d be unbelievably happy to come back and play for FVC students again!”
Amber Little, FVSA Student President, said: “It’s amazing to give a local band an opportunity to perform again. The live gig sector has been hit extremely hard by the pandemic and we all need to chip in to get it back to what it was before all this started, in any way we can.”
Some of the events which students took advantage of included: Quizzes, Cinema trips, Information on Clubs and Societies at FVC from the FVSA Student Engagement Coordinator; Learning Support Information from FVC Equalities and Inclusion team; Box of Knowledge Library information from the FVC LRC team; Facebook LIVE event featuring Ken Thomson, the principal of FVC and an informational talk by Police Scotland
