Steven Birrell visits FVC students

Top tips from Steven Birrell, Director of International Corporate Relations at fast food giants McDonalds, were on the menu for Event Management students at Forth Valley College recently.

A total of 11 students – nine in person and two via Teams – from the College’s HNC and HND Event Management courses, were delighted to welcome Steven (pictured here centre in front of the Christmas tree) to the Stirling Campus on Thursday 24 November, for an illuminating and enjoyable talk about his role and on the industry he works in.

Steven, said: “My early career started in a classroom and I always remember the energy you would get from discussions with an engaged group of students about their course and issues that they are interested in. It was great to experience that feeling again. I really enjoyed the conversation that we had and I’m sure we set some kind of record for the amount of different topics covered in an hour. Thank you to Chris for the kind invitation and to all the students and staff for their warm welcome to the Stirling campus, their hospitality and brilliant questions.”

Christopher Foote, FVC Lecturer (pictured far right), said: “It was wonderful to have Steven Birrell visit our HNC and HND Event Management students as a guest speaker on Thursday 24 November. Steven is the Director of International Corporate Relations at McDonald's and spoke about PR and Public Relations, in particular around events and partnerships on both a national and international scale. It was fascinating to hear about his journey and extremely insightful for the students to hear from someone with such experience.”
