Flexible Learning student Stuart McLagan has performed above and beyond his everyday studies to scoop a college award and an iPad Mini.
Stuart from Stenhousemuir who attends FVC’s Flexible Learning sessions run in the Camelon Education Centre, is the third recipient of the new Flexible Learning award sponsored by Learning Nexus – who also supply online learning content to the College.
He has rapidly completed European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) qualifications and has already passed modules incorporated into the Advanced ECDL course.
Stuart (32) has been supported through his study by Lisa McLaren FVC’s Flexible Learning Coordinator and Flexible Learning Assistant Margaret Callaghan who facilitates flexible learning support sessions in Camelon. Learning Nexus Chairman Ken George and Implementation and Training Manager Bev Hares visited FVC’s Falkirk Campus recently to present Stuart with his prize.
Stuart, said: “I feel brilliant. When I first started doing the Introduction to ECDL I never thought I would win an award like this. I would certainly recommend the course to anyone. It has been a big confidence boost to me. I would also like to thank Margaret Callaghan at the Camelon Education Centre for all her help and support while I have been doing the ECDL. I believe this will certainly help me as I look to find employment in the future.”
Ken George, Chairman of Learning Nexus, said: “Congratulations go to Stuart for all his hard work, it is an excellent achievement. We were delighted to meet him and present him with his prize and recognise his achievement as Flexible Learner of the Year. Stuart is a deserved winner and we wish him every success in his continued studies as he takes on ECDL Advanced.”
Lisa MacLaren FVC’s Flexible Learning Coordinator, said: “Stuart has done a fantastic job on this course and he has worked really hard to complete it really early. His confidence has grown immensely since first attending Flexible Learning sessions at Camelon Education Centre and he is now working towards his Advanced ECDL which is tremendous. He has already completed his first units and will now presumably be turning his attention to mastering his new iPad!
“FVC’s partnership with Learning Nexus has evolved really well and we are delighted that they have now sponsored this award for the last three years. We have worked closely with them over the years on various e-learning modules and we have a great working relationship, which we hope to build upon even more in the years to come.”
