Police Scotland Youth Volunteers’ (PSYV) Stirling Branch was launched recently at Forth Valley College.

The PSYV is a programme set up to help strengthen relationships with young people and make local communities safer. The initiative is for anyone aged between13 – 17 and looking to improve their knowledge in policing. The recruits will learn about policing in Scotland and once an initial training period is completed, they will go out volunteering in their local communities.

PSYV Alloa - an already established group - attended the FVC Stirling Campus on launch night on Wednesday 26 April, to welcome their new Stirling counterparts into the organisation. They talked about their experiences as members of PSYV and their favourite volunteering experiences. Some of these experiences from previous years have included volunteering at: Race for Life, Killers concert, Alloa Half Marathon and local fireworks displays.

PC Tracy Diamond, said: “As the PSYV group Coordinator for both Alloa and Stirling, I have seen first-hand the benefit this initiative has. The youths from previous groups have turned into confident, vibrant young people who love volunteering and giving back to their communities. I am really excited for our Stirling youths to start their PSYV journey.”
