Forth Valley College’s Student Association have played a starring role to boost their Healthy Body, Healthy Mind rating from two to three stars.
A key part of this achievement came from a series of six mental health first aid training sessions held throughout the last academic year and run by Debbie Jackson, the outgoing Vice President for Health, Well-Being and Sport, allowed around 60 people to acquire skills aimed at addressing and identifying mental health issues that may be affecting students in the college.
New FVC Student Association President Alan Buchan, said:
“This is great news and is a great endorsement of the excellent work that has been done recently by Debbie and which we hope to build on in the future, with our new VP for Health Wellbeing and Sport, Amy Scobbie having already hit the ground running on plans for the year ahead.
"We are really proud to have achieved this award as it puts us in league with some much larger colleges and universities, some of which have dedicated sports unions with extensive budgets. It is really brilliant the impact that has been made by the team and we hope to continue to build on this to give our students even more support in their health and wellbeing over the next year.”
