Forth Valley Student Association used Scotland’s national day as the ideal date to officially welcome ESOL and international students to Forth Valley College – with a special event.
St Andrew's Day - Tuesday 30 November – was the perfect day in which to celebrate the new intake of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and a large in take of oil and gas engineering students from West Africa and welcome them to the Falkirk Campus, and help them to settle in to Scottish culture.
The free event – which included a welcome message from FVC Principal Dr Ken Thomson - ran from 11-3pm in the Antonine Suite near the Falkirk Campus reception, and those attending were treated to live music, food, freebies and much more on the day.
Elena Semple, FVSA Student Engagement Coordinator, said: “It was great to see so many students take part in the event on St Andrew’s Day and we are delighted with how it went. We wanted to officially welcome our international students to the Forth Valley Community and we thought the ideal way to do so would be at an event celebrating Scotland's national day! The feedback we have already had has been very positive so we are confident it has been a success.”
