Oil and gas expertise was the focus of a visit to Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus recently by a delegation from Iraq.
Sadiq H. Kadhum Al-Yassiri Director General of Studies Planning and Flow up Directorate, Hilal Ali Ismaeel Director General of Oil Research and Development Directorate, Munther Khalid Abduladheem Manager of Outside Training (Overseas Training), Ghaleb Mohammed Ali Ahmed Al-Sanjo all Republic of Iraq Ministry of Oil, Abdulkareem Qasim Lazim Manager of Training Department BOC and Stephen Bishop and Awatif Mumtaz from BP visited the campus on Tuesday 21 November.
The group were treated to a presentation on the expertise available at FVC, a tour of the campus facilities and a discussion on possible future opportunities for cooperation.
Dean Williams, Head of FVC’s Department of Electrical, Instrumentation and Chemical Engineering, said: “We were delighted to welcome the delegation from the Ministry of Oil and Basra Oil Company to show them our facilities and discuss how we could work together in the future. They all seemed very impressed and we hope to build a strong working relationship.”
Jennifer Tempany, Head of FVC’s Department of Business Development, said: “It was a pleasure to meet the Iraqi delegation, who had earlier visited our HE partner Heriot Watt University. Having the opportunity to outline our expertise and high standards of training will enable real partnership opportunities for FVC. The visit went very well and we are ready to help them put in place a training programme which can help their operations develop, whenever needed.”
