Students in Forth Valley College’s Salon Services department gathered to celebrate some of the best achievers of the year recently (Thursday 20 June).
Students of the Year were: Level 2 Hairdresser of the Year - Alexandra Kellnerova; Level 3 Hairdresser of the Year - Avril Fotheringham; Level 3 Beauty Therapy Student of the Year - Jane Jarju; Level 3 Nail Services Student of the Year - Emilia Pytlos and Level 2 VRQ in Women’s Hairdressing - Adrianna Ksiazczyk.
A total of 114 students graduated on the night across six different Salon Services courses and Inspiration Peer awards were presented in each subject area.
The June Hill Hairdressing Award for Passion and Dedication was also presented to Jacqualine Connelly. This is award commemorated June - who sadly passed away in April 2018 after a short battle with cancer. She was a hairdresser for more than 50 years in the Falkirk area and worked for 43 years at Nan Smith’s Hairdressing Salon in Graham’s Road, Falkirk.
Lyndsay Campbell from the Anthony Nolan Trust, attended on the night to receive a cheque raised from all the fundraising events that have been organised during the last academic year, which totalled £1,305.
Liz Foran, a Lecturer in FVC’s Hospitality and Salon Services Department who organised and hosted the event, said: “I am so proud of what all the students have achieved. They have worked so hard and the awards ceremony, is a perfect way to celebrate their success with their friends and family.”
