A chef lecturer from Forth Valley College scooped a top prize at a catering competition open mainly to university teams this week (Tuesday 22 March).
Rohan Wadke won the Campus Speed Cook Challenge category at the University Caterers Organisation (TUCO) competition held at Warwick University. He was part of an FVC staff and students team which also entered the Chef’s Challenge (Lecturer Martin Luti and student Theodore Chana) and Street Food Challenge (student Connor Stewart) categories.
TUCO is the leading professional membership body for ‘in house’ caterers operating in the higher and further education sector. They are committed to advancing the learning and developing of catering and hospitality teams, and work to provide quality standards, advice and information to those working in the sector. TUCO is committed to driving the health and well-being agenda on behalf of its members, and is at the fore of sustainability best practice.
Diane Creed, Head of FVC’s Hospitality and Salon Services Department, said:
“We are all very proud of Rohan as he has done fantastically well to win one of the categories. Two students and another member of staff were also competing and although not placed, they did amazingly well and had a great time. The only other College from Scotland was Edinburgh and the rest of the finalists were all Universities throughout the UK, so we have done very well. It is a great example of lecturers and students working together at a high profile event. I am so proud of them all.”
