Forth Valley College’s Learning Resource Centres (LRCs) booked their place in the list of brilliant fundraising efforts during the recent Book Week Scotland event (21-27 November).
The LRCs hosted author visits (including Chris Brookmyre at Alloa on 22 November) and also held book sales in all three campuses. The Alloa Campus LRC also held a take away café, where Access and Progression students made home baking and coffee which was served to staff and students.
In total the LRC and the Access and Progression students made a whopping £167.78 in one week and this will be donated to the Scottish Book Trust Charity – the organisers of Book Week Scotland.
Joanne Saunders, Learning Resource Assistant, said:
“It was such a success working with another department during Book Week Scotland. The event also raised the profile of the LRC and the Scottish Book Trust, which encourages people to enhance their learning experience through reading.”

"We work with the School Links group. All the students in this photo attend Lornshill Academy. They come up every Thursday to get a taster of college life. They commented on how doing the take away café has helped with confidence building and they enjoyed working together to put on the event."
