School pupils from the Stirling and Falkirk areas were given a glimpse of the workplace during their summer holidays as part of a Career Ready initiative at Forth Valley College.

A total of five mentees, Louise Thomson (16) from Bannockburn High School, Ellie Howes (16) from Bo’ness Academy, Rachel Ritchie (16) from Grangemouth High School and Abbie Adams (16) and Tyler Bravin (16) both from Braes High School, were given the opportunity to shadow members of staff throughout different areas of the college, to get first-hand experience of some of the different job roles that are available.

Over a period of four weeks, they completed set projects and tasks in order to learn and develop their transferrable skills base, which will benefit them in their future studies and employment.

David Gentles, FVC Learning Resource Assistant, said: “The mentees have been great and have had the opportunity to experience different job roles within the college and enhance their transferable skill base. They have also increased their communication skills and increased their confidence levels.”
